Supporters and Funders

Inverness Foodstuff is incredibly fortunate to receive support from a wide range of individuals and organisations. Alongside our dedicated
volunteers—who generously contribute over 900 hours of their time each month—we benefit from many supporters who provide financial, clothing, and food  donations.

We are especially grateful to those who give regular monthly financial contributions, as these donations allow us to plan and budget for our ongoing costs. We also receive many generous one-off donations throughout the year, particularly during the festive season. For example, the Glen Mhor Hotel kindly prepares and provides 100 Christmas turkey meals for our participants; Davie Macrae and the Secret Santa Team provide toiletries, Christmas gifts etc.

In addition to financial support, we greatly appreciate the many donations of essential items such as tents, sleeping bags, towels, and clothing we receive from numerous individuals and organisations. For instance, Mark from the Order of Malta supplies vital warm clothing items, donated by Primark, each Christmas and Easter.

Our main source of income comes from successful grant applications. We are thankful to the following organisations for their current grant support:

  • National Lottery Community Fund – Improving Lives
  • The Robertson Trust
  • Social Isolation and Loneliness Fund (managed by Impact Funding Partners on behalf of the Scottish Government)
  • Highland Communities Mental Health and Wellbeing Fund for Adults
  • Highland Whole Family Wellbeing Programme
  • GreenHall Foundation
  • Margaret Douglas Trust

Food Donations

We collect surplus food each week from several local supermarkets, including:

  • Co-op (Telford Street)
  • Tesco (Tomnahurich Street) and Tesco Extra (Eastfield Way)
  • Lidl
  • Aldi (Sir Walter Scott Drive)
  • Bookers Inverness
  • Marks & Spencer

We are very grateful to these supermarkets, as well as to Neighbourly, FareShare and Caboodle, who help manage surplus food distribution. The food we collect is used to prepare our three-course lunches at Ness Bank Church, with any remaining items made available on our stall for participants to take home.

We also benefit from front-of-store customer donations at Sainsbury’s in Nairn. These donations help us create care packages containing essential groceries and toiletries for those we support. Additional support comes from the Grow Project and HMP Inverness, who provide surplus fruit, vegetables, and herbs from their vegetable gardens. CFINE supplies fresh, in-date produce that is ideal for our three course vegetarian lunches at Ness Bank Church, as well as ambient groceries for our community shelves at Hilton Community Centre. Furthermore, the Country Food Trust provides high-protein, ready-to-eat meal pouches, which are ideal for homeless persons with limited access to cooking facilities.
