As well as providing companionship, acceptance and food we also act as a hub to support participants in: developing new skills, increasing confidence and accessing appropriate services and opportunities.
Many of the relevant services and agencies attend sessions so it is easy for participants to find out about that they can offer.
Laptops, Wi-Fi access and IT support allows digital connectivity whether that be for social, welfare or employment need. We have weekly input from an Employability Mentor who can advise and signpost participants appropriately – helping and encouraging them to consider new opportunities.
Increasingly many participants are gaining confidence by becoming valued volunteers in the café. This not only supports the sessions but also ensures we remain a very connected community.
We strongly believe that improved self-worth and wellbeing allows participants to make positive changes to their lives and enables their personal growth.
