Project Description
Social Isolation
Some of our participants have stable accommodation but experience other issues like loneliness,
disability and health problems that make them very isolated within their communities.
There is now compelling evidence that the health risk of social isolation is comparable to the risks of smoking, high blood pressure and obesity – even after controlling for other variables affecting health.
IF is a welcoming, friendly, safe place where they can chat, make friends and be listened to three times a week – as well as enjoy a good meal. Our volunteers mix and eat with the participants – and many participants now are valued volunteers themselves.
CHANGE A LIFE TODAY
